...and through it all, no one brought up how hilariously satirical a name like Cracker Barrel is. It's right there. With an old man or without. Cracker. Barrel. Like a Barrel. Full of a specific kind of people. Eating unhealthy food. Just me? I ate at one in AZ and couldn't stop giggling.

There's a great story from an APU student who had a history professor show this to talk about godly manifest destiny. The discussion got derailed by debate about a woman showing too much skin being depicted. And the few BIPOC students who pushed back at manifest destiny were ignored.

Everyone arguing about who is a "true" christian makes me feel like I made the right decision to leave it completely. All Christians have to define it for themselves, picking which parts of the Bible and which teachings of Jesus to follow. No one follows them all, not even the 10 or 12 Commandments.

Just in general watching prog Christians applaud and cheer so hard for someone pointing out bigotry in the church. It's great. A lot of people already know. It contributed to the many reasons we left completely.
I know bigotry exists outside of the church. And I don't think eliminating the church would solve all the problems. But the hegemony of christianity is so strong that those inside feel they are the center of the universe.
I know it takes some courage to clap back at the church for its racism, queerphobia, and patriarchy. I also think the bar is so low inside churches that we are applauding the equivalent of someone using chopsticks correctly. It's something, yes. Maybe not as impressive to those of us on the outside.

We already live in a country where most people don't even know about the Japanese Incarceration camps, and now MAGA is trying to erase the few resources to educate people.
The dodgers were cowards for going to the White House and not saying anything about ICE. But now they are the aggressors. They are the jackbooted thugs. Nope. I could half-heartedly watch cowards. Can't watch fascists.

So many emotions. We fully support the protests to get ICE out of LA, especially in our beloved Little Tokyo. Protestors need to know that this is sacred space. The US rounded up our families right there to send them to camps with no due process. So, for our ancestors, we want to keep it clean.

I grew up knowing "they came for me (my family)" already.
To be clear, I grieve the lives destroyed so far with deportations and disappearances. It's just not shocking to me. I grieve the lost retirement savings, the lost livelihoods, and the feeling that we aren't safe in our own country. It just all feels familiar.
I know about generational trauma, but is there also generational resilience? I do feel the pain and stress of everything happening in the country, but I don't feel the need to flee or give up. My entire family was locked up during WW2. They survived and recovered. I'm heartbroken but undeterred.
