I haven't seen any of those shows, but IMO The North Water is top-shelf toxic man drama.

I've always been disappointed that that quote is the one from it that everyone knows. "Don't take life so serious, it ain't no how permanent" is far better.
I feel like - we have a culture that believes that you can judiciously optimize your way into a positive outcome from any situation, and a lot of people cannot accept that there are scenarios where there are only bad and less bad outcomes

I think it's useful to unpack this. If Democrats agree with Republicans on excluding women's sports, what's the harm? Is it primarily harm to trans women who play sports, or is there something more to it? A reasonable person who doesn't know much about trans issues could ask these questions.
