No, not really. The US has produced a substantial amount of hardwood lumber for decades, much of which is sent overseas for conversion to furniture. I don’t know the current production statistics but paper grade softwood lumber is/was grown mostly in the South/Seast. Not sure about Canadian tho

I am somewhat of an expert on the wood sector of the furniture industry in the United States, and I can assure you that it ain’t coming back. (IKEA actually has some manufacturing operations here, but only a token amount). It has gone the way of textiles, consumer electronics, etc, etc, etc

Oh, I did! The worst pain was from work. I was a manufacturing manager and had to teach safety, particularly “lifting safely by bending your knees and keeping your back straight,” while demonstrating. For weeks after, every other person on the floor would do the “safe lift” when I came by! 😂
I have had a “bad back” for 50 years now, but one of the worst episodes occurred when I bent over to get a pair of socks out of the bottom drawer. Couldn’t move for DAYS! 🤪
