There are also filters that can sit over or inside your nostrils (supposed to be our primary airway). Sadly those filters are only rated for PM2.5 (designed more for allergens) so they won't capture viruses very well, but better than nothing if I need to briefly remove my mask on long outings.
Sam Seltzer-Johnston (@sbseltzer.net) reply parent
Of course! I've started learning more about additional layers of protection recently, like doing a saline rinse in my nasal passage every day after outings and using special nasal sprays that help block infections before outings. Not complete solutions but some promising studies exist to support it.

If you're in it for the long haul like me, I highly recommend trying out reusable respirators like breathe99 or flomask pro. I've got one of each and they both make a much better seal than disposable masks. More cost effective and lower waste in the long run too.

Finally decided to see what the Cyberpunk 2077 fuss was about. Just started, it feels a LOT more RPG and a lot less action than I expected. Makes me nostalgic for Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines. Or maybe Shadowrun Returns. If it’s half as good as either of those I’m in for a treat

It's amazing what happens when you stop putting out Reddit fires and instead incentivise otherwise reserved normal players to share feedback via surveys, ideally built into the game's menus. It's not complicated, new, or difficult. Pop up a survey, give them in-game scrip in return. Win win.

I think in the grand scheme of things I was a lucky one. I know of some patients who are still completely bedridden to this day. I'm able to return to a normal-ish lifestyle, albeit much more limited and excluded than before since I can't drop all precautions. I'm not confident I'd survive LC again.
Sam Seltzer-Johnston (@sbseltzer.net) reply parent
It's hard to make sweeping generalizations with LC since it's multi-systemic and can have wildly different effects/severity on each person. Thankfully I'm past the worst of it, I think, but it's hard to know of it'll randomly come back. I had several symptom relapses over the years since.
Sam Seltzer-Johnston (@sbseltzer.net) reply parent
When my LC symptoms were at their worst I had several catatonic episodes that presented similarly to a stroke (little to no motor control from neck down). Some days it felt like my body was made of lead which made a lot of the basic self-care you're describing extremely difficult or impossible.
