I would suggest never buying apple products again since they've made it clear for decades they have no respect for their users. You can't complain about paying for cables when you chose to buy hardware known for being proprietary instead of open.

Your son! How did Smith fail? The odds were stacked against him, of course he dropped the charges. Continuing would have accomplished nothing and almost certainly ended with the most orange coming after him. It's not his fault you failed to pass on intellectual reasoning to so many.

I think one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned from this year is to not exhaust your energy on people who currently don’t bring value to your life. check in on them occasionally if you want to sure, but if they’re exhausting you more than lifting you up, give yourself some space

Non-readers complaining about the semantics of language is peak idiocy.
Chris (@seamlessvision.bsky.social) reply parent
If you don't care whether it counts, why won't anyone shut up about it? I have not seen a single post saying "reading isn't listening" but I am inundated with posts saying the opposite. If you really don't care, then go listen to your books and leave the rest of us alone.
Chris (@seamlessvision.bsky.social)
Come on BlueSky, why can't we remove followers? I see people asking for it as far back as a year ago. I shouldn't have to permently block someone just to remove them as a follower. If you're not going to allow this, then you need to implement a "followers need approval" function.

You're describing most other psychologists. His appeal is that he's telling people what they want to hear, where real therapy takes effort and is unbearably hard. What we need to do is start teaching kids at a young age the value of self discipline. The value of work now for reward later.

Totally agree. The fact there was no fascism here for a week or so showed me just how many unhinged left leaning people there are out there. Over all bluesky is an improvement, no question, but this idea that all people on the left are sane, rational, respectful people is just flat out not true.

So to be clear, Donald Trump successfully got Matt Gaetz out of congress? 🤣
Chris (@seamlessvision.bsky.social) reply parent
I mean, yeah, that makes perfect sense. A private company's terms and conditions have nothing to do with the law. Nigel Farage might be the scum of the earth, but by law he did not incite anything. You can't just do what you want because you don't like someone. That would be a bit fascist, no?
Chris (@seamlessvision.bsky.social) reply parent
At this point I literally hope it does happen. The only way Republicans (not MAGA) are going to do something, is when they finally realise they aren't at the table. Americans voted for what they wanted, and if it gets bad enough the guillotine might finally come out like it's 1789.
Chris (@seamlessvision.bsky.social) reply parent
Only through strong self love, self esteem, or at least strong external support, it is extremely hard to change who you are or how you've been raised.
Chris (@seamlessvision.bsky.social) reply parent
If we are in an environment where the people around us agree with us, or only offer negativity about our choices, the mind has no incentive to make the monumental effort of change. Especially when there is strong research showing we make some decisions before we are even conscious of them.
Chris (@seamlessvision.bsky.social) reply parent
While we always have the capacity to do so, things ingrained in us from a young age are incredibly hard to change. Think deep deep wheel ruts that require massive effort to get out, and a misstep to fall back in.

What is the alternative? If you live in a democracy, and the people voted for the dictator, you give them the dictator. Is it distasteful, yes. Is it bad for the country, yes. But that's democracy, doing literally anything else would be hypocritical.

It's not even a difference of political opinion if they do think you are human and deserve to exist. The fact they think ANYONE, even one person, shouldn't exist for any economic, religious, or bat shit crazy idea they have, is reason enough to never speak to them again.
