UPDATE: At least 19 states have issued orders to protect COVID vaccine access including AZ, CO, CT, DE, IL, KY, MA, MD, ME, MN, NC, NV, NJ, NM, NY, PA, RI, VA, WA. Almost all orders allow pharmacies to give vaccines without a prescription, some states have taken steps to ensure insurance coverage.

I’m also fairly sure Klein didn’t write anything like this after the assassination of multiple Dem politicians in Minnesota. I’m not saying this as a gotcha, but rather the show the implicit assumption of our discourse, which is that Right Wing violence is to be expected, and thus tacitly accepted.

There’s very principled reasons to condemn the killing of Charlie Kirk - freedom to participate in a democracy means not being scared that someone is going to shoot you for what you say. But it’s also very chilling for us who work on college campuses where we’re obliged to uphold speech principles.

In 2014, Anita Sarkeesian canceled an event at Utah State after a credible assassination threat because the school’s response was that Utah allows guns on college campuses. People have warned about this kind of violence for years. But they weren’t the people the powers at be wanted to protect.

The thing about using Senate obstruction tools is that it's win-win for liberals. Either you successfully slow down or block action by Trump. Or you get the Republicans in the Senate to weaken or abolish the filibuster. Either thing is an improvement over the status quo.

Getting ready for a conference reminds me every time about the importance of writing to understanding what I'm arguing. Writing is thinking and no matter how much you think that you know what you're talking about, writing it all down sharpens all of the connections you need to make.

I think his understanding of film has a lot to do with it. The technology has changed over time to make these types of videos less stilted and more authentic but his have cinematic quality that I have to believe has to do with but just understanding how film angles and genre matter.

I'm not a big believer in diving into the industry breakdowns because I believe that all jobs matter. But the Administration has made dramatic policy shift to boost manufacturing, and it just ain't working. Manufacturing employment fell -12k, and is down -78k over the year.

I know the focus today is on "the numbers." But lemme share a feeling: I'm worried. The economy was in a good place in late 2024. That's no longer true. And the trajectory is, at a minimum, concerning. That's millions of peoples lives, and millions of stories of pain.

RFK Jr. rolled out that old chestnut again about how healthy Americans were in the 60’s, so here’s a fact check. In 1965: -42% of American adults smoked; it’s 11% now. -The infant morality rate was 24.7/1000; it’s 5.6/1000 now. -Overall life expectancy was 70 years; it's about 77 years now.
