JAMA had am article yesterday on how cystic fibrosis has gone from fatal to treatable. The scientific development has been going on longer than 10 years, but a major treatment came out in 2019. It joins congenital heart disease as a condition where we now need research on the patients in adulthood.
Last night I attended a local community theatre production and they had just hooked up their new solar panels to power the building last Friday. So dope that a small theatre in a larger town in the Midwest can pull off something like that in 2025.
Every time I get my pacemaker battery replaced, it's expected life has increased. When I got mine the first time it lasted eight years, the next one lasted eleven years. The current one is forecasted to last 14 years. This is amazing technology that saves lives (mine included)

I went to see CAUGHT STEALING for my birthday because it's set in my old LES neighborhood around the time I lived there. While the trailers make it look more comedic and light-hearted, it's actually pretty dark. But it does have a really boss kitty cat, as well as a kicking soundtrack.

I was explaining this to a group of people and one person in the group, a former content moderator, went "holy shit, is THAT why the entire time I was working that job I had a Tetris addiction and I just stopped playing it when I quit" -- a lot of us in the early days had the same instinctive thing!
There have been *some* studies on other games, but Tetris is the best-studied because it was the one in the original study. It does seem that the key elements are "fast/timed", "lots of concentration", and "lots of eye movement across the game board" if you can't do Tetris for whatever reason.
3. If you see content that disturbs you, immediately (or as fast as possible) go and play 20-30 minutes of Tetris (or any other fast-paced game with your eyes sweeping over the visual field that has caused visual artifacts to linger when you close your eyes for you in the past).
