Candidates ideally do not need to fund recounts. We need to incorporate full hand-count audits, or robust statistical audits as a routine part of every race in every election. But candidates would do well to ASK for recounts when results and/or circumstances seem irregular.
The lawsuit for the recount is moving forward. We are waiting for the new motion to dismiss from the Rockland County Board of Elections. They have until this Friday, July 18th. Then we have until Aug 29th to respond in writing. Meanwhile they are supposed to be responding to our discovery requests.

There is always a motion to dismiss. That is the first step in litigation. The opposing side seeks to dismiss the case.

Look at pulitzer-prize nominee Tracy Campbell's book, Deliver the Vote. It's a meticulous documentation of how throughout US history elections have been manipulated & stolen. Nothing new. People cheat. The machines have terrible security. It's not unthinkable that someone took advantage of it.
If there is a way to successfully change election results, it's more logical that it's an ongoing process that some have learned to take advantage of, than the idea that the elections have always been perfect, and all of a sudden an interest group figured out how to manipulate the entire election.
You have to keep in mind that past elections may also have been altered. So your data baselines and even your registration data could be less solid than you think. I know you will say that's unthinkable, but it's actually the more logical assumption.
