My husbandβs parents were Polish, and their stories were also scary. At 17, his father fought in WW2, then came to Canada. His mom was in a concentration camp, as many Polish were. She came here as a DP. Thanks for the info on the book! I will track it down.

Which my parents are not. Until last year, they received their vaccines - flu, RSV, and Covid from their family doctor. Then Smith took that away from family docs too. I think the only shot mom & dad got was the flu shot. Doesnβt make me feel hopeful theyβll get any of them this fall

Iβm lucky theyβre both still around and I can write down the recipes. Mom turns 90 next week; dad turned 92 two weeks ago. Both are in decent health, but arthritis, early stages of dementia (dad) are all a concern. Iβm sorry for your loss of your mom. π
