Yes, there was some learning loss & it affected some kids greatly, either academically or social-emotionally. But the alternatives were much, much worse. Anyway, I refuse to concede the point that school closures were the wrong choice, and it frustrates me to see Democratic politicians doing so.
I have no doubt that had I contracted COVID before being vaccinated (late March 2021), I'd have been toast. And had both our kids been in school full-time, and my wife had to teach high school in person full-time, it would have happened. The closures in Minnesota very likely saved my life.
It is absolutely wild to me that we're still doing "we should have left the schools open." I only got COVID for the first time this past month. Having been vaxxed and boosted at every opportunity over the years, I had a quite mild case. But I'm asthmatic, so that still means a bad, tenacious cough.

Many states donāt let you get a COVID vaccine without a prescription as they had existing laws that tied access to official CDC approval. This made sense as a safety measure, but now the CDC has been taken over by antivaxxers, several states are rightfully modifying these laws to reinstate access.
