What even is the opinion here, "we would like the federal government to be run by totally different people with an entirely different agenda"? All of the blame and agency is placed on local officials, not the deranged authoritarian calling in militarized forces under false pretenses.

I think we need to stop saying that people hate crime. They like punishment. There are clear ways to reduce crime that involve systemic investment in communities but we avoid doing that in favor of ever more militarized policing because too many people in power like punishment.

I have a task on my list to go to the National Capital Trolley Museum. I've never been, and it's not especially easy to get to and the hours are really weird. Without a tool like this, I just would never go. But periodically this task bubbles up on my Saturday calendar and reminds me that I should.
Anyway this is not an ad, I just rely a lot on these two tools to keep myself from decaying into a pile of wood chips on a daily basis. Some people need to check off a daily recurring task reminding them to load the dishwasher otherwise it won't get done with any consistency and I am one of them.
And the task management feeds right into the project management, so the system can look at all the tasks and stages of a project, determine how an entire team of people's calendars look for the next 90 days, and tell you right away if you will complete your project on time or not.
So if I create a task to get a haircut but I can only step away on Thursday and Friday afternoons from 3-5 to spend an hour at the barber, and the system originally schedules me for Thursday at 4, but I miss it, it automatically moves the task to Friday at 3 on my calendar. Lifesaver.
And, if I don't complete a task when the system originally schedules it, it will look for the next available time slot that fits the schedule and priority I assigned to it, or, if it's important and urgent, it will keep scheduling it for right now until I do it.
What I love about Motion is that I tell it some information about the task up front (how long I think it will take, whether the time can be chunked, priority level, what times and days I'm willing to work on it, etc) and then it looks at everything I have on my plate and auto-schedules everything.
What I hate about all other task managers is: if I'm too busy to complete a task by the deadline I gave it, I'm too busy to reschedule it, so overdue tasks just pile up and sit there and then there are so many that you don't even know where to start anymore.
The tool I use for task/project management is this thing, confusingly (in the context of this thread) called Motion. Ignore all the incessant AI marketing hype going on on the website. I've tried every notable task/project management tool on the market and this is the only one that works for me.
Yeah I could see it as a semi-useful repository of organizational documents especially with the (gasp) AI search that can look across your whole ecosystem for answers
I used to use a journal template in Notion to keep track of to-do's for the week but found it a total mess. Much easier, for me, to keep Notion as a place for thoughts as a big journal/encyclopedia/life dashboard and to take any behavioral stuff and put it into dedicated task management software.
Honestly I do want all action items to be saved, linkable tasks, I just don't think Notion's interface is good for task management in any way. I use another tool for task scheduling. Notion I use as a store of information about my life and a place for self-reflection and goal development.
Notion is a tool that I find very helpful in my personal life but the thought of trying to conduct any kind of professional enterprise out of it gives me a headache. I have no idea how people do that.
