The biggest scandal in US public life *ought* to be that we are the richest country in history & yet our infrastructure sucks, our transportation choices suck, our cities suck, our healthcare sucks, our public administration sucks, & in dozens of little ways, our daily lives suck.
National Guardsmen now stationed outside our DC building confirmed that the only thing they can do if they witness a crime is call 911. The have no more authority than my office mate to intervene. Despite the handcuffs, they can't make arrests. They are very expensive mall cops.
My office is about a mile-ish away. I could not see aircraft nor smell smoke an hour ago, for what it’s worth.

My office mate has his ringer/notification turned up loud all the time. He gets calls, emails and texts every few minutes. Bugs me. I don’t know why he has the ringer so loud; he always ignores his phone calls anyway.

We get fluffy bunny 🐰 from the canyon. Loads of them. Lately an opossum walks along the top of my fence back to the canyon at dusk every night. Started to notice him/her just last summer for the first time.
Generally summer evenings here mean close the windows at least once or be overcome by 🦨 from the canyon. For whatever reason, almost none of that this year so far. (Fingers crossed) Scented candles are on standby though.
