Born 3 Sept 1950, Nicky Horne is a DJ, who has worked for a variety of radio stations, including Capital Radio, The BBC and Boom Radio. He worked as a road manager for Emperor Rosko in 1969 before presenting shows on BBC Radio 1, from 1970 to 1973. I listen to him every day on Boom. #NickyHorne

2 Sept 1972 saw the start of the Erie Canal Soda Pop Festival (Bull Island Rock Festival). The Promoters were expecting 55,000 music fans but over 200,000 attended the festival. Many bands pulled out as the festival drifted steadily into anarchy amidst heavy rain and a lack of security. #ErieCanal

Bond Girls #8. Moonraker (1979) starred Texan actress #LoisChiles as Holly Goodhead opposite Roger Moore. She was certainly the most qualified Bond girl to appear so far, as she was an astrophysicist, NASA astronaut and CIA operative. Lois got the job after sitting next to Cubby on a plane journey.

30 August 1972, John Lennon and Yoko Ono played Madison Square Gardens to raise money for the Willowbrook State School. Stevie Wonder, Sha Na Na and Roberta Flack also appeared at the event. Lennon personally bought $60,000 worth of tickets which were given to volunteer fund-raisers. #JohnLennon
