Win, lose or draw in Ukraine, Russia will continue to receive Chinese support. There is nothing in China’s strategic positioning to suggest Beijing would cease to extend this support to Moscow. No “reverse Nixon” policy by the West—to peel Russia away from China—is possible. Europeans should also resist any temptation to believe they can alter Chinese calculations vis-à-vis Russia. They must forge a new China policy on the basis that the country is deliberately prolonging war on their continent.

lol they are bragging about killing people with the US military in flagrant violation of any kind of legal authority not once but twice in a week. The press is just gone, too many abuses to keep up.

The media allowing Trump plausible deniability on Project 2025 during the campaign is right up there with Iraq War stenography in craven, lazy disgracefulness

Tweet from Dan Satterfield Ok, I keep getting asked about how to complain about Kimmel. The best way to complain that will have the biggest impact? See if you have a Sinclair or nexstar station in your area. 2. Watch the local newscast tonight or some time this week. 3. Note the companies that bought tv adverts. 4. Call them and let them know you will boycott them until they quit supporting that media company. Trust me. I worked in tv for 45 years. Nothing you do will have greater impact.

I think that they think the constitution is actually a pamphlet with a bunch of cool old school style script on the outside. On the inside it just says “Grunt Style 1776” next to a Punisher skull.

Pence: "State ownership of business is very common in China & Russia. Taking a percentage of sales of Nvidia, taking a percentage of stock of Intel is inconsistent w/ free market principles, and I think it's taken our country to a very perilous place and I think we need to resist that very strongly"

What does Trump say about his political origin story being years and years and insane shit talking about Obama on Fox?

The context here, of course, is that the “local broadcasters” Carr is egging on are actually huge conglomerates with a pending merger before his office that would give them (and him) vast control over all broadcast television stations

It’s darkly funny that the search for the shooter’s politics never provided much clarity about *his* politics but brought the politics of a lot of powerful people into sharp relief.

Oh so that’s why he’s getting state funeral treatment. He was even more bespoke than a troop - a guy who could have joined but then was too good to be a troop. Makes sense.

Children can't agree to a contract/license, so the idea that their unauthorized use of a service could force a parent into arbitration is just ludicrous. arstechnica.com/tech-policy/...

This is what happens when you ask him about his crypto scam. He won’t have to worry about that as long as he keeps the foreign press away.

I cannot stop thinking about how the media ecosystem (broadly defined) was so horrendous during the Helene response and now it’s significantly worse.

Here’s what a Ball State University employee said that led to their termination:

Suzanne Swierc Let me be clear: if you think Charlie Kirk was a wonderful person, we can't be friends. His death is a tragedy, and I can and do feel for his wife and children. I believe in the Resurrection, and while it's difficult, I can and do pray for his soul. Charlie Kirk's death is a reflection of the violence, fear, and hatred he sowed. It does not excuse his death, AND it's a sad truth. The shooting is a tragedy, and I can and do feel for a college campus experiencing an active shooter situation. The deaths of Melissa and Mark Hortman, the children shot and killed in Minneapolis last month, and the children shot in Colorado today are all tragedies that also deserve your attention. Charlie Kirk excused the deaths of children in the name of the second amendment.

i think that if the FCC threatened to revoke ABC’s license unless it replaced Jimmy Kimmel with Kevin Hart to diversify the network, Ilya Shapiro would be able to identify the issue here
