I had a similar experience in UHL last Sept. Difference was I couldn't have an MRI as I've an icd (no MRIs allowed), & it was because I didn't have one they wanted me to see the neurologist to ok me for discharge. I went in on a Sat afternoon & finally got to see him - & out - the following Friday!

Yes. I'm beginning to think that the "Irish transplantation" has gone better than "other" movements to Bluesky from Twitter/x. We've got a grand little community here now. It's not that we want to be "parochial" - I dont think so anyway - but we want that "Old Irish Twitter" vibe & we're succeeding.
Susan G (@susangriff.bsky.social) reply parent
Exactly this. Bluesky isn't the best for people relying on a "big audience" - people who have something to "sell". Bluesky is absolutely fine for people who want to chat - better than fine, actually, as it hasn't been overwhelmed by those who "hinder" reasonable chat, like happened with Twitter.
Susan G (@susangriff.bsky.social) reply parent
Yup. Brilliant.
Susan G (@susangriff.bsky.social) reply parent
Oh look up her duets with Butler - they were on Jools Holland bbc & the Late Late Show here - both of those would have clips on youtube. (And they did a couple of festivals) Of course, there's also her singing in the film Wild Rose - first thing I saw her in.
Susan G (@susangriff.bsky.social) reply parent
Agreed. I had also thought there'd been an increase in activity lately - but maybe it is only in Ireland. These "there's no source of revenue so Bluesky is bound to fail" threads seem to pop up regularly, and I think they always will, regardless of actual usage data.
Susan G (@susangriff.bsky.social) reply parent
I always find Jessie Buckley to be spectacularly good in everything she does. And not just in acting roles - her album with Bernard Butler a couple of years ago ('22?) was my favourite album of that year! Amazing voice.

It might not actually be fair at all! I might've been "cranky" about it last night because I compared it unfairly to Past Lives, & wanted it to be another PL coz I love that film. Materialists was a good film. (But yeah, do see Past Lives 😊)

Came back to say I did in fact go to see it tonight. I'm sorry. It's not the worst movie, but it's no Past Lives. Past Lives is in a different world to this film. I'm glad I 'gave it a go' - and I did like the music - but ... its no Past Lives ...

Ooh. You must watch PL. It's obviously a "smaller"/less mainstream/more "indie" film than Materialists. It is a very gentle, moving film. I've watched it multiple times & it still makes me emotional every time. Its beautiful to look at, too. Very "careful" filmmaking. I *love* it.
Susan G (@susangriff.bsky.social) reply parent
Ahh. I'm so happy to see you say this. Celine Song's Past Lives is one of my favourite films of recent years (I think it's a *beautiful* film - exquisite). So, I've been "nervous" to go see Materialists. My grown-up son went this week and really liked it - and now you - so I'm gonna go for it.
