Probably. But also nearly 80% of car ownership families live in places with off street parking. Eg detached homes or townhouse style developments.

Most studies are showing extra wear is really not that significant and the amount of particulate pollutants is still far less that a car that doesn’t have regen braking. Overall 83% less.

Some but not a significant amount. Problem with many of those studies do not compare to the most common vehicles on the roads, heavy Utes with soft fast wearing off road tyres.

The increase in tyre wear is only a few %. But overall it’s still a substantial decrease in particulate pollution from braking.

New survey finds 62% of 18–24-year-olds feel anxious about refuelling. Fear of queues, pump errors, and public embarrassment top the list. not to mention the smell. EV drivers? They recharge at home every night—quietly, confidently, and without a servo in sight. #Evs for even less stress.

not sure on payback, probably near 10 years, haven't really calculated it yet, but in a rural area, the costs will always be higher as a grid connection alone could cost over $70K. our grid connection came in at $15K, so total cost of the system over the grid connection, not sure yet.

Great work here from @carbonbrief.org , debunking common myths about solar power. The reason that solar power makes so much sense is fundamental physics - it takes energy in its most useful form, as soon as it arrives on Earth, before it's "taxed" in entropy. Making use of it is a slam-dunk win.

Apparently being against genocide, and calling for peace in Palestine is radical and undermines social cohesion. But feeding anti-science, anti-government sentiments that end up in 'sovereign citizens' killing police officers is a totes OK business model. Fuck You Murdoch and SkyNews Australia

no, we do have a grid connection backup. we do work from home and run servers and other essential computer equipment 24hrs a day, so need the decent solar, and big storage, (as well as 2 EVs) hopefully we will never need the grid connection with this setup. but just in case, its connected.

we have set our gateway to zero export, the feed in tariff offered is insulting. considering the cost to buy it back. se we would rather use it ourselves and not bother with feed in at all, not worth the $0.01 or $0.03 they offered. though we might look at Amber again.

it is, sadly our feed in is limited to just 5Kw, and at a rate so low its not worth it, so we have set our inverters and gateway to zero export. so hence the biggest battery we could get unde rthe rebates, and with 2 Evs to keep filled. should be more than plenty, even in mid winter on cloudy days

Diesel-powered mining vehicles account for anywhere from 30-80% of direct emissions at a mine site. Good news: The electrification of mining is possible. Look at this monster: Liebherr's T264 battery electric haul truck is higher than a house, weighs 176 tonnes and has a payload of 240 tonnes.
