I keep wondering, what if it's something like a stroke, with cognitive and/or physical damage. That is actually more likely, and would be VERY tricky to navigate. That would also maybe explain this time of silence - to see what gets better and what doesn't.

Fun (?) fact. There is no “South Star” but you can approximate the South Celestial Pole by drawing a perpendicular line between α and β Centauri and finding where it intersects a straight “tail” from the Southern Cross “kite”. Thus less star blurriness as you get closer in this 45 sec exposure.

Hey, I don't smoke, don't drink, don't eat meat, exercise every day, resting heart rate of 49, healthy BMI, normal BP...gotta put SOME quality of life into the equation along with the quantity of life.
Legit complaint 😂 CTC is actually too oily for me. It legit leaves a sheen in the bowl. I want my breakfast cereal full of excess carbohydrates, not fats.
The perfect quick weekend breakfast: my favourite all-time cereal brought in with my luggage from a recent trip to the USA, and banana slices from our very own backyard banana harvest.

Yeah, interesting. The Sequoia apparently like elevation and things a little drier, so mid-California, in the mountains. And Redwoods all along the coast and into Oregon and further.
Agreed. It’s basically impossible to convey their size and majesty with pictures. Being around/among them literally moves me to tears.

A few of the Giant Sequoias at the Mariposa grove. These trees were likely already over A THOUSAND years old when the first European colonists arrived in North America.
In retrospect, especially with a bite that was bleeding, I should have gotten their name and reported the dog and made sure it was current on its vaccines. I was too shook/upset at the time to think straight through. 🫤

For the most part I’ve loved my brief time here in California, but COULDN’T BE HAPPIER to be flying home to Aotearoa tomorrow night.
This is not the first time this has happened to me. It has only reinforced my anger at dog owners who let their dogs run around unsecured.
Out for a lovely walk along the SF Bay waterfront trail when a couple’s unsecured dog ran over to me, growled then bit me on the thigh-drew blood. I rebuked them way too calmly and politely, continued my walk. It’ll be fine-scrape not puncture. SO f**ing tired of dog owners and their “good dogs”
