Iām afraid they will follow RFK jr. One of our York County reps posted on FB recently that MAHA was something 80% of Americans agree with, so that the bubble heās in, and heās not even one of the Freedom Caucus guys. He was also conflating the SNAP soda regulations with the whole agenda.

Thank for the insight. I guess one of the big questions is whether or why shared borders matters if this trend of states going their own way on certain aspects of governance continues. Also, I see a sudden, new political issue for NM voters to bring into campaign conversations.

I remember a lot more rattlesnakes back then. The NW corner has a lot of Elk that werenāt there in the 70s and 80s. They had been there, were hunted to local extinction, then reintroduced. Interestingly, the last grizzly killed near there in CO was in the 70s.

One of the things political reporters need to do better is recognize how much more to the right Ohio is now than some Southern states. In terms of 2024 presidential margin, Ohio was 8 points to the right of NC, 9 points to the right of GA, & 17 points to the right of VA.

Oh yes. Iām aware. After the election, my impulse was to never post anything anywhere again. Then when DOGE was stealing Gov databases in Jan/Feb, I got fairly depressed about the possibility of them linking ALL the databases, Gov and Social, enabling them to track all of us and our opinions.

Forgive me, but we could send all the 18 year olds to extended Summer camp for that, and it would cost a fraction of the price. Universities had 2 raisons d'ĆŖtre: student academic work leading to learning, and serious research. Now AI does much of the former and Trump is slashing $ for the latter.

Two reasons we do well cities: -being around a lot of people not like you, as happens in cities, makes you more open. -itās easier to knock more doors in cities! But yes about rural Dem politicians. Iāve known a lot and theyāre amazing, not least because they can code switch earnestly.

Well, most canvassing is about boosting turnout among those who *would* vote for Democrats if they werenāt too busy with yoga class. If you convince one or two of those per vol shift, it can flip a result. That said, Iāve persuaded Trump voters, mostly with mirrored language. But that takes skill.
