Media orgs: listing a job for “young” or “early career” journalists is ageist. Ask for the number of years of experience instead. You cannot only hire people in their 20s despite how much you’d like to.

What this means is less human interaction overall. No the bots aren’t helpful. They suck and that’s on purpose.these companies are taking advantage of the destruction of the CFPB and other agencies meant to protect consumers. They no longer exist or are gutted

Last year I wrote a piece for the Boston Globe about the horrific customer service Americans are subjected to. Folks - it’s even worse than I could have imagined. You can no longer access you bank or doctors office with a direct call. All calls are now sent to AI, or they lie and force you to wait

Just laid off at 63 yrs old. I have to look for work to get unemployment but, it's useless. So, I'm spending my days cleaning out my house to sell it before the market collapses. So yeah, I'm living the dream.
Such was the case with me. After giving the best years of my life for a startup that was promising me a house at the beach, and surviving 3 buyouts, I was laid off finally when they sold off what was left of my hardware. hundreds of interviews later I had to go back to gig work to pay the bills
There right now and can’t find work. Been trying for over a year. Got a seasonal min wage job that lasted three months and that’s it.

I get that it’s hard for young folks to find work. But when we limit the employment convo to just young people we obscure the reality. According to the WSJ if you are laid off over 50 yo, there is a 1 in 4chance you won’t find work again. Ever.
