🐾 After 15 years of strenuous shows and appearances, the animatronics and mechanisms of Cali—our resident saber-tooth cat puppet—have endured a lot of wear and tear. Sections of her deteriorating fur became completely threadbare, and her eye blink even started developing an occasional wink.

Why did the Ice Age titans go extinct? Using a method devised for dating fossils preserved in asphalt, a team of 19 scientists obtained over 170 radiocarbon dates on #TarPits fossils. This helped determine when different species disappeared from the ecosystem and start to ask: why?
