I never used to see these until the last five years. They have apparently had a nice population boom since they predate on a lot of invasive insects that other predators won’t eat. They’re pretty chill bugs, I like having them around (though will never handle one, not gonna find out about that bite)

Just about every game released now has paid DLC after the fact. We've been paying over $70, to $100 or more on games without realizing it because you pay in increments. It's not great.

Totally agree, I kind of gave up on that one especially since some of the houses are in areas that there really aren’t designated visitors for yet. There’s a few that don’t matter what part of the island they go to but so many do that why should I repair the underwater and ice peak ones
I learned it’s cheaper to upgrade the houses than to open up new ones (was costing me three crates to add at least the first addition). The crates are also annoying because I missed a few visitors that are going to be a hot minute before they come again. At least the meadows ones are any time
I’ve been working on the merry meadows residents to get more flowers but now lots of frogs to trap lol. I do love the running joke about the island being trapped in time and is the airplane still in the air

Yep pretty much! Platinum prior had released around when youtube was starting to become more mainstream but other social media sites (outside of like myspace/xenga) were still in their infancy. You had to seek out and get on a forum to complain about games back then lol

Apparently this character was coded this way for the mobile version so that the devs would have longer to complete the story quest but they never fixed it for permanent release. It's single-handedly killing my enjoyment of the game but I have them at level 19 and I'm so close so I must go on
So side note I love this game EXCEPT that there is a story quest that requires you to be best friends with all your primary island residents and there is a single character that takes several MONTHS to become best friends with (coded this way) and you can't time skip and it has made this a chore

I remember how much people HATED that you could only use new pokemon at first, amongst tons of other hate and negativity when they first released. It's nice people finally came around to how good they were.

And I get like, the market probably has shifted so it is really just collectors buying them rather than random folks but it sucks having that price change over to premium.
But now it's like, they're still decent quality but there hasn't been like a significant quality jump to justify such a huge price jump. I liked them because they were an affordable collectible especially for some really under loved games but now we're hitting low end premium collector prices
yeah, there has definitely been a slow price creep on them. I didn't mind when it jumped from $12 to $15 because there was an actual quality control jump that came with it, and there were the one offs that cost more like detective pikachu (BIG) and the Zelda guardian
Basically for most of them the US is getting charged $5 more than Europe's prices, everything else is the amiibo got really expensive
The Air Riders amiibo are the only ones across the board that cost roughly-ish the same in the listed regions so we are just getting charged that much for the swapability
Yeah it's definitely the highest in the listed regions. There's less of a difference between the European prices and the US prices but US prices are still about $5 higher than Europe.
There's a much smaller price difference between Euro and GBP to USD though so it's probably less tariffs and more Nintendo is upcharging significantly on these

I’ll get meltan as the Pokemon Go rep since I’ve sunk a billion hours into that game but I’m not sure I’ll continue with gen 8 since collecting all the ghosts has been expensive. Gen 7 feels like a good place to stop since it was the end of the fully handheld mainline game era
My gen 7 pokemon sitting cuties arrived! So many ghosts! 👻 All of the wooden ladders my grampa made for me back in the 90s are now back fully in use. I need to repair a rung on the one on the right below the marshadows, then I’ll have room for a single additional sitting cutie like meltan.
