Instagram is just too judgmental.
I used to post on Threads every day. Now, I haven't even checked my account in months and I kind of like it. I don't want to be forced to use Instagram to check my messages because I hate Instagram. Why can't Threads have its own direct message system? I don't like Instagram and never did really.
The one thing I don't like about social media is I get a chance to see how and what everybody thinks about certain things, and it makes me a little bit more paranoid about interacting with people in general.
The only thing that's been keeping me sane is music. GratefulI can always go into my studio in hop on the pioneer DJ controller or whip up some new tunes.
I'm so sick of the way people act online. That's why I just post on Tumblr where I don't have to interact with anybody if I don't want do.
Twitter used to be fun. It's not anymore.
The crazy thing is Elon posts almost nothing but negativity on Twitter. His message is that negativity, rage bait, harassment, and any interaction that's not positive will get people paid. It doesn't make for a healthy social media environment. Instead, it makes deactivate and stop posting.
Twitter is just so negative and depressing now. I'd rather not have an account on there, all things Elon considered. I rarely see anything positive or beautiful or uplifting on there these days. It's always rage bait, hate, and negativity. Or just some shallowness that I can't relate to.
There's only so much negativity that I can take on social media before it starts messing with my mental health. I come on social media to be entertained to be informed and to promote my art and music. Not to get into meaningless back and forths and to read negative opinions and takes from randoms.
The reason I post on Tumblr more than any anywhere else nowadays is because it's not flooded with politics all the time. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for staying informed on the latest happenings, but social media has become almost nothing but politics and I find it exhausting.
I hate know it all types. Because there's nothing wrong with admitting you don't know enough about a subject and need to research it before you have an fully fleshed out opinion on it. It displays a lack of humbleness.
The Coli is filled with armchair A&Rs that know nothing about music outside of Rap/Hip-Hop & R&B and they try to talk about Country, Rock, House, Techno, etc using the same metrics and it's obvious they don't know what the fuck they're talking about, but pretend like they know it all anyway.
Armchair A&Rs and music execs are annoying. Especially when they obviously don't know what they're talking about. I just wanna tell them to shut up cause I know they love the sound of their own voice even when it spews nothingness.
The problem with music discussion online these days is too many people try to act like they're A&Rs at labels instead of music fans, listeners, and consumers. If any artist took their advice, they would be destined to fail simply because of their lack of foresight.

Why can't Threads be a standalone platform? Why does it have to be connected to that horrible platform Instagram? I don't like Meta's platforms. Facebook sucks. Instagram sucks. And Threads became really obnoxious really fast.

I've been pontificating about why I don't like Instagram anymore, and the reason, I don't delete my account is because it's the only way some people that know me in real life can contact me by name. Also my Threads account is attached to it and it has ten times more followers than my Instagram.
I do my own thing and I'll refuse to be browbeaten by people who want me to cater to them. It won't happen so stop trying.
I see what Instagram has become over the years and I don't like it. It's just ads and reels now. It feels so impersonal and weird to try to have an account to try to stay in touch with my real life friends cause Meta wants people to perform for the algorithm and I don't.

Pittsburgh could take some cues from places like San Diego, Denver, Los Angeles, Frisco etc. Just build a skatepark within the actual downtown area, not just outside the city. It would work.
Skateboarding, hip-hop, punk rock, graffiti, rave culture, all of these things are about making something out of nothing and that's what I enjoy about them. Never let the DIY die...

At 41, I don't feel old physically. But that's because I work out and exercise and still trying to be active through skateboarding (something I've done for 35 years anyway, almost 36.)
In fact, when I go back to Pittsburgh, I want to skate this DIY park cause it looks amazing. A flatbar with a ride on grind. An actual ledge (so many Pittsburgh skateparks don't have decent ledges) A cement mini pipe (the crown jewel of the park). Pittsburgh has a dope skateboarding community.
I used to live on 13 Boundary Street in Panther Hollow when I attended Pitt 20 years ago. If there was a DIY skatepark there when I was living there, best believe I would be there everyday!

So what do I watch for entertainment? YouTube on my TV with my PS5. Youtube is not like TV. Even though some people like to say it is.
I stopped watching Cable TV seventeen years ago. I don't pay attention to new TV shows or movies. I don't care about podcasts. Hell, I barely even care about pop culture anymore. I like to get into obscure and underground type things regarding music, art, and the internet.
Threads would be great if having an Instagram account wasn't a prerequisite. As a standalone platform ofcourse. Its just the Zuckerberg network of websites just falls victim to becoming corny and I like something that's a little bit more subversive and non-mainstream.
Best believe that shit had me so pissed off, I was ready to fuckin fight people on there. I was ready to type something that would get my account banned. Instead I dissed the userbase on Reddit as some chronically online racist lames, logged off, and never logged on again.
Reddit sucks because it's filled with racist trolls who wanna yell at a Black person online behind the veil of anonymity. Last time I was on there, I was condemning Twitter for promoting racism and bigotry against Black ppl, Indians, Asians, Latinos, Arabs, etc, and I got attacked by the users.
