Disagree here. He didn’t show toughness he had this year as rookie. And last year, he was a mess as a receiver. He’s always been worse blitz pickup RB on the team. Lots of good reasons not to play him. This season was year where everything came together, but I would not have played him more earlier
Also harder for Cook to take “fair” deal like teammates because “fair” probably half what Rousseau/Benford got. Not saying Cook’s social media saber rattling and Instagram cleanse negotiation stuff is right approach. But I do understand motivation to squeeze every dollar out of this contract. (2/2)
James Cook contract was probably always going to be toughest for #Bills. Shakir/Rousseau/Bernard at least could land another big deal at 28-29 years old because their positions can still be effective at that age. Cook not so much. (1/2)

Google says you’re right. Only 3 states go later than Sept 15 4 more go “local option” and those are all around me (NY, PA, OH, MA). Which is why I’m stunned how many cut it off so “early” from my POV

In upstate NY, the cutoff is early December. Probably the 1st. Kids born around Thanksgiving are usually the youngest.
Hornell girls basketball lost in the Class B championship 54-50 to Cold Spring Harbor. The Raiders led by as much as 17 the first half. They were up 41-31 after 3 quarters but CSH tied the game with just under two minutes ago. Took the lead in the final 30 seconds and Hornell could not answer.

Thought #Bills likely had pulled another lever to create cap space for free agent signings last week. Milano was it. Saves team $6M on cap this year. Allows him to bet on himself for this season and next. Can be win-win but also reality for an often injured player about to be 31.
Reduced yes, but still existent. And even though DTs might have a more realistic look at getting to QB, as you correctly point out, there’s also more ways for O to impede that guy. Bills just have not been good enough on DL in general and if edge is where they can get better, they feel need to do it
I think the feel is they have to have one of these guys, or at least this level guy, work to make a Super Bowl. So they’ll keep swinging even if data says it probably won’t work

Think Bosa signing works better with Hoecht signing. Hoecht can be DE on run downs. He's very good there. Bosa becomes Designated Pass Rusher. Von played about 40% snaps last year. Limit Bosa to that. Hope he stays healthy. Considering options, maybe best impact #Bills could hope for.

Ty Johnson is a free agent. So they can't trade without signing him first. I'm not sure on the RB draft. It's definitely better than last year, but last year was awful.

#Bills have brought back RB Darrynton Evans. Ty Johnson is still unsigned. Could be a bit of insurance, but likely just a depth add.
Think ceiling with Hoecht is Alexander and it's not crazy, even if pass rush skills need lots of work. But any use of him as coverage man requires Taron, Bernard or Milano off the field. Definitely no bueno. Hoecht dropping on a Milano blitz is fun, but it's a very specific role. He needs more.

Hoecht to me is about what do they do with him. He can drop and cover but everything you see says not to do it a lot. He can rush the passer but he started as a DT and looks like a guy who’s been rushing off the edge for only 24 months. Really good run defender, so I like the idea of 1st/2nd D DE.

It definitely won’t be all that, but Brown’s deal could easily not be all that. It’s probably a reasonable contract.
They already have four receivers with fairly high value assets invested. I don’t think they bring anyone else in beyond a blocking, role playing FA or a day 3 draft pick

Bills O was excellent last year. All they really needed was a guy to do the X receiver stuff. And they got 'a guy'. Feels a bit pricey, but if Dyami Brown is 10-12mil, then 3/36 is probably right for Palmer.
Josh Palmer about as ok as it gets for #Bills. Solid. Can separate. Not dominant there. (Next gen had him 139th, 115th in avg separation last 2 years) Will make contested catches, but not all. Can tell he's very good with Intermediate in/outs, leverage v safeties on deep shots. Not much RAC juice.
One of the (many) cool things about new #Bills DT/DE/LB/Nickel Michael Hoecht (pronounced Hoyt) is that he blocked three kicks last year. THREE! Man has a move pretty locked in here.
