Great thread. Teacher burnout can also be a reason. This can be driven by no real support for new teachers. I mean, think about it, as a new teacher, you are thrust into a classroom of 20+ students who don't know you and don't trust you and if they don't trust you why would they do anything you ask?
I am starting to realize that a lot of people who were raised on action movies of the 80s and 90s took those way too seriously and were persuaded to think that literally kicking ass is the most effective way to do things as a country. This came to my mind when reading this article.

If anyone else listens to the @knowledgefight.bsky.social, the guys go over a segment of a recent Alex Jones episode where someone calls into Alex Jones asking what to do about their wife who is an illegal immigrants but "one of the good ones" and Alex basically tells them "they gotta suffer".
The point that was made about how it is all just a joke and we should just be alright with it reminded me of a recent episode of "Weird Little Guys" podcast where the host talks about how most inhumane treatment of people starts out as just a joke until the joke takes life and becomes reality.
What I think is funny about the idea of putting veterans first is it seems that the idea of veterans is used opportunistically: like sure, think of veterans only when it comes to immigrants, but outside of that, eh fuck em.

One of the most striking differences I see between Democrats and MAGA is that Democrats would not deny if one of their own is connected to Epstein because they are not in a cult. I for one would happily handcuff them myself.
