I’ve heard from a couple of messaging strategists now that people shouldn’t post so much about COVID19 vaccines because it’s “divisive”. I am here to say that I do not give a damn what is popular. I will never ignore scientific evidence for the sake of expediency, and neither should anyone else.

💯 #AgeVerificatiionLaws make it rather difficult to limit how much information your company needs to collect for an online service, like a #socialmedia site. They do not pair well with a focus on protecting consumer-privacy. Instead, they create a need for a costly age verification service.
To be clear: this is yet another reason why many of these laws are so problematic. If people want to run fediverse instances of any size, the fact that costly age verification requirements could put them in legal jeopardy, is very bad. Regulators make laws as if every website is Facebook.

According to federal data, 13 of the top 20 cities in homicide rates have Republican governors. None of those cities are Chicago. 8 of the top 10 states in homicide rates are led by Republicans. None of those states are Illinois. And yet Trump is sending troops here.
I'm not sharing the face of the child being interviewed after today's school shooting. I am going to point that showing his face is highly unethical even if parental permission was obtained, because we know from prior mass shooting events that survivors and their families are harassed by deniers.
