Ian and Caprice said during the trios match that Sammy was competing for a chance to win both and that both titles were vacated due to Dustin's injury. They said he isn't part of the trio titles lineage.
Alas, I must put the Daughter Mortos to bed. The #ROH championship matches will have to wait. This has been a GREAT show. Feels like the right mix of peaking young talent (Lee M) and new faces/acts learning from the legends/vets that don't have a logical spot in AEW right now (Lethal, Kingdom, etc)
I agree. I think working with Dustin, while not my favorite thing on tv, rounded out some of the rough and inconsistent edges Sammy had as a performer. He acted like a heel in that much, not just a guy who was booed. Five years ago he didn't have the maturity to play to the crowd like that.

Also. A third thought: 3) We all knew AEW was doing C+C/FTR at All Out, but damn if the official graphic doesn't make me geek out. I had no idea how much of a C+C (great name by the way) stan I was until the reunion was official.
Excellent AEW Dynamite last night that left me with 2 thoughts: 1) Hook's arms look huge. I still think he has a ton of fun potential as a character AND appeals to my high school kids, so demographics matter I guess? 2) I want to understand Darby's physiology. Like, his body can't be human right?
He will also be treated super poorly in the 'E. He deserves to leave the industry calling the best wrestling that's out there.
Feels like they are setting up Takeshita to win the AEW Continental Classic and take down Okada...so him losing now with the 'he's worn down from the G1' excuse would be fun. I'd be sad to see Takeshita's and Fletcher's bromance end though.
I didn't think of a Kenny/Hangman one off. I will take that too. Not sure how they get there. Takeshita/Okada might just blow my mind.

Ha. Listening to your podcast on the way to work this morning actually prompted my question. I think Okada/Hangman needs a bigger runway than a few weeks. That's All In worthy to me if Will isn't healthy by then.
This would also be a nice backdoor way of getting Sammy back involved with the Callis family where he belongs (he's such a good unlikable prick) AND setting up Jericho's swan song to be emphatically putting Sammy over. Whether it works or not, that should be the endgame.
I agree. That just doesn't feel like a main event to me...despite loving everyone involved. Also not sure Big Lash will just let Ricochet in a title match without murdering him first.
I don't disagree. I'm banking on Jericho's ability to reinvent himself and make himself interesting. I do think AEW having a ppv where we 100% KNOW Hangman is going to triumph isn't a terrible thing. I'm okay with Jericho leaving at the end of the year but feel he deserves a proper sendoff.

Who do we have as Hangman's All Out opponent? I want to see MJF arrogantly put his contract on the line at All Out against Briscoe, Briscoe win that match and cash in at the October PPV (selfishly...because I'll be there). But I can't figure out what AEW does for Hanger at All Out. Jericho?
I'm also curious to see how AEW restacks the deck with Swerve and Ospreay out. I think the men's division is fine as is and the extra time should be dedicated to more womens' stories (and tag titles!). Give Hayter, Stat, and Willow time to establish themselves as 'main characters.'
I haven't posted in a few weeks. I've been lurking in the shadows. I enjoyed AEW Forbidden Door and can't wait for tonight's Dynamite. Fantasy booking Danny Garcia to join the Death Riders and become the protege Yuta always wanted to be. DG/Yuta beginning a lifelong feud would be delightful.

The beauty of this match, and what makes TK such a mad genius, is that Omega, Kidd, and Ospreay are banged up. Tanahashi isn't what he once was. And Darby presumably has ring rust. Yet now they are all positioned to steal the show. We need to invent new words to express my love for AEW.

AEW Collision was fantastic this week. I love that it somehow both feels connected to and separate from Dynamite now. It has a fun identity of its own. AEW continues to cook. Looking forward to the Technical 4-way next week. Torn between wanting Nigel to get his O2 moment or Hechicero/Sabre.

After last weekend's 'E event I finally muted all main 'E terms (Monday show, Friday show, etc). My timeline is very pleasant now. People are free to like what they like I guess, but that doesn't mean I need to be reminded of it.
We AEW fans need to have an important discussion. One we've been avoiding. When we get Blood and Guts soon...what will we call Royal Rampage now that the Friday show doesn't exist? What show do you put it on? Curious minds need to know. Because it is THE BEST.

This is it. This is the counter to whataboutism. At some point consumers need to draw a line. As much as I love AEW I will stop watching if they start Saudi shows, human trafficking cover ups, etc. I was OBSESSED with the E growing up. I want to like it now. But stuff evolves and people should too.

You get used to it. I dropped the E after the Saudi shows started. First few Manias I missed felt like I’d lost something. But there is a ton of joy to be had in the AEW and all their partnering promotions.

The craziest thing about this weekend's #WWESumerslam is that Triple H is working with Donald Trump, has praised him several times, and WWE is in your face MAGA- which makes sense given that predators protect predators, and WWE & Trump are rife with sexual assault and trafficking cases.
Oh I agree. Rewatching the early tv she is far and away the worst character on screen. Her involvement in any of his feuds was always atrocious. I The best thing the 'E did for Cody was not make her an on-screen character. Her lack of charisma absolutely extended to him in AEW.
And I still think Cody should just shut up. He's legit the biggest star of the biggest wrestling company in the world. But if the disrespect he alludes to was how people talked about Brandi and his family...well he's not exactly wrong. Even insincere, disingenuous people are right occasionally.
I'm a bonafide AEW tribalist, but I will say this: A portion of AEW fans were TERRIBLE to Brandi Rhodes. I didn't like her character, but the way people talked about her, if it were my wife, would have pissed me right off. Some people evolved 'go away heat' into something more mean and personal.

I think I see what you're saying. I'd much rather we hold all entertainers (hell… all people) to a higher standard. It is odd how we tend to pick and choose who we hold accountable and who we don't. I certainly don't understand the psychology behind that.
