Actually, the reason we don't have gun restrictions is every time a President signs them into law, their party loses the next election. Voters demand a politician does X, they do X which angers other voters, and then when they ask for those voters support - they refuse because X is "crumbs".

We came out on the other side of a pandemic with a miracle vaccine and the potential for more, the other side of a potential economic crisis with cooled off inflation and low unemployment, and we collectively decided nobody had ever had it worse and this needed to change.
So while i do not want to do to rural areas what they very clearly want to do to the urban areas where most of the country lives, I do think at this point they should just get what they vote for & feel the actual consequences of it. We arent the ones voting to destroy rural areas, they are.
