Definitely don't agree with everything in this thread, but there are several parts that strike a chord in me.
We know, I think even people who disagree on everything else agree on that. I like most of this thread, but not 100% of it. Example: I believe in table stakes issues as being necessary, so we don't accidentally forget what our collective values are.

If they are explicitly socialist candidates, they have more space, and absolutely stand a better chance than pro-capitalist candidates.
I don't think D's are widely open, and certainly not the power players, to embracing open socialist policies, and those are the only unifying candidates for everyone not married to capitalism.
