Good ole Ian Miles Cheong. Always ready in the wings to stir things. He has given all sorts of 'local' experience over the years. His 'local' experience is often so ignorant that it suggests he's probably never been outside his bedroom. I left X because of the likes of that clown. π€‘

Its within your power to change all that nonsense. The UK should adopt proportional representation. It would immediately give a more accurate parliamentary position. This system where a party can get 40% of votes and yet have a huge majority is simply wrong. Yes PR leads to coalitions. So what?

Trump wants to meet Kim again. He obviously wants advice on how to improve his dictatorship. He said "Kim has a lot of experience on that. Did you know that. But I dunno. They're like a family of dictators. It's beautiful". Reports say Trump has got a special notebook and pencil for the trip.

Trumps fraud case... the judges said the fine... was excessive and likely violated protections in the US Constitution against severe punishment. But it's okay to pick an innocent person up off the street and deport them to a concentration camp in a foreign country. Independent justice my ass.

What the US President says has far reaching consequences. Financially, politically, militarily. It's like he has no idea about this. As a result thousands of people die, have their lives turned upside down or suffer immeasurably. Either he is completely ignorant or an incredibly cruel person.
The Nudge (@thenudge.bsky.social)
I don't know if it's Trumps mental state, but he doesn't see to have any concept of what the Russian Ukraine situation is. Nonsense just keeps spewing out of his mouth. Security guarantees but no guarantees. It's like he just says what he thinks people want to hear at a given moment.

Joni, you're thinking too strategically for the Europeans leaders. Either they can't think strategically or they are more concerned about their local politics (short term). I've said many times Europe needs a true leader to shake the continent to see the real danger being posed and to act.
The Nudge (@thenudge.bsky.social) reply parent
Perhaps, but that (again) undermines Trump in the eyes of the Americans. And by agreeing to the meeting Putin is acknowledging Ukraine which a problem for him. That is Joni's point.

Society isnβt allowed not to pay for the goods and services, and neither should the Capitalists be allowed not to pay their charge.
The Nudge (@thenudge.bsky.social) reply parent
Society, therefore, provides the service back to consume the goods and services that the Capitalist provides. The charge that Society levies for this βconsumer serviceβ is taxation. Therefore, it is reasonable that Capitalists pay this charge.

Some thoughts on the Billionaires tax situation. Capitalism works. It works better than the alternatives. However, there is a defacto Capitalism Contract. That is that Capitalists (business owners) make money out of providing goods and services to Society.

This seems to be the norm for many countries. In the UK, the railways were private 1800's, then nationalized in 1947, then privatized again 1997 and now because they were profiteering and providing poor service, they are being nationalized again to save them. Next, the UK water system....!
The Nudge (@thenudge.bsky.social) reply parent
This is good, but Europe needs to stand up now and show some leadership. Trump has no leadership skills, so there is a window of opportunity for leaders in Europe to step up, especially from a NATO POV. Not to take it over, but to ensure solidarity and unity. Putin's goal is to break NATO up.

Then Trump diverts all this new government tax into projects to support himself and his friends. For example government contracts to Elon Musks Space X. So it ends up being a transfer of wealth from the general US population to the billionaires. Simples.
The Nudge (@thenudge.bsky.social) reply parent
It's simply a 'sales tax' and in the eyes of billionaires it's better than income tax. If it were an income tax, richer people would pay more than poorer people. As it's a form of sales tax, Elon Musk pays the same amount on a product he buys as the poorest in the country. Simples.
