One more thing…. What moderates in the DFL don’t understand is that by refusing to work with progressives they’ve actually made their fear of the progressive wing of the party trying to take over the party the only possible action progressives can take to avoid being purged from it.
So I would appreciate it if people stopped calling me DSA or saying I’m here to take over the party because what I’m really here to do is to get people elected that I’ll keep my loved ones from being murdered, institutionalized, or starved.
The thing that excites me the most about socialist parties is their desire and often deep commitment to creating a workers’ party. In the rise of Trump, I saw that the progressive coalition doesn’t have time to build a new party right now. So we have to work inside the one we have to save lives.
I made an active and considered choice to move into the mainstream party from a fully removed vanguard revolutionary organization. I have always been open about my past and my motivations.
For those that are new here: I was never a member of the DSA. From 2004-2012, I was a member in national leadership for Socialist Alternative. In 2016, after a short political hiatus, I joined the DFL. My political ideology is harm reduction and MANY DFL elected have proven to me that they agree.
Look at all those positions! Join. Vote. Run.
Here it is. Unfortunately, though the only way to fix it is to slowly gain a majority vote on every body. So a bunch of us masochist will have to do it.
Fateh will raise millions from this. He may even win because of this. But our party? This is likely the beginning of the end of it in its current form. Why would campaigns or delegates invest their time and money if they feel like endorsements are this precarious?
This is absolutely their goal, if they can’t control it. Some of them have literally said so.
What a deeply cynical move by the state DFL. 1. provide no support to the local party 2. overwhelm volunteers trying to provide a fair process 3. if you don't like the results, overturn them based on the flaws you guaranteed would exist
if your response to an unfair and stupid decision is "oh well, guess I'm just going to let Republicans win" then honestly you need to get out of politics, you aren't prepared for it. the road is full of unfair and stupid decisions.

Well. If a delegate leaves the building with their badge and doesn’t check it back in then they are considered checked in and the alternate that is there for them cannot be seated. So you could have 200 people that left between 9am and 2pm when ballot one was cast but they took their credential.
