Like, Ballmer is essentially saying he doesn’t know what Aspiration would do with the $50mm he invested with them, when they turned out to be essentially a Ponzi scheme. No, that makes it more likely in my opinion.
I know there will probably never be an email from Ballmer that says, “Hi Aspiration, I am giving you $50mm to pay Kawhi.” But at this point, if the NBA treats this like it maybe didn’t happen, they’re asking fans to be stupid.

As I learn more about soccer, I find myself less and less interested in international soccer. It’s just broken all the way through. I don’t know how any of the US players are supposed to care about a game that doesn’t matter, other than the ones fighting for a place in the roster.

I messed up. Meant to say basically after they fired Poche they’ve been poorly run relative to the other Rich teams. Clearly, Levy’s long-term track record has been amazing and the club owes him a debt of gratitude.

Oops. I edited this skeet several times, so I left out the qualifier "In the post Poche/recent era." Clearly Levy has been great for the club overall, but recently the other rich clubs have been run better. You might still disagree, but I think that's a defensible statement.
relative to the other 7-8 rich English clubs, Spurs have been the 2nd worst run org in that bunch (unless we include Villa perhaps). Only Man U is clearly worse.
not necessarily a connected issue to Levy out (but I acknowledged it as a possibility), but I definitely would re-evaluate my fandom if that happened. I've turned on sports teams for less.
Oh man. I disagree. I’d rather gamble than continue with the status quo. Levy was great for the club, no question. Just saying it’s time for a fresh voice - I do think the next set up can fail, but I think that happens less often then it becomes better.
Try to be optimistic.
I think it's fully possibly that the next guy is much worse, but also IMO it was clearly time for a change.
Levy is now underrated historically for what he's done for the club, but he's also past it and they need a fresh voice/power structure. Also might hint towards a sale coming (new owners want different people in house/Levy wouldn't sign on).

I can’t remember who said this, but there was an analyst that said what makes a good 12-year-old soccer player is different than what makes a 16-year-old, is different than a 20 year-old, is different than a 25-year-old. Is different than a 30 year-old.
I don’t know where the line is, but we’ve seen a ton of youths get decimated by knocks because they are playing too young. I am 100% confident 15 is too young. I think probably the answer is something like 19 or 20 where you eliminate nearly all of the unnecessary injury risk.
The best thing that the NBA could do to make restricted free agency more fair is to up the qualifying offers. I really hope Kamm Thomas has a great year because bidding on him next summer is going to be fascinating.

I'm in a weird spot where I think Spurs window relative to their net spend was very good, but also they only filled 60% of their needs. Highlights just how bad the transfer business was under Mou/Conte/shortly after. This summer prob the 2nd window best since Poch years? 3rd at worst.
Doesn't also account for PEH's loan becoming permanent, and I suspect that Yves is still to move to Turkey. But directionally this chart is correct. Spurs have had a 5-7 year drought of selling players for good money that only the Kane sale has made barely palatable/sustainable.

while not likely, Gray could pop too. Part of why I think their ceiling is 5 is that they have a ton of young guys who "could" pop, though any single one is pretty unlikely. I'm probably lower on Tel than most (don't think we should've bought him), but higher on Gray/Sarr. Idk. We'll see!
we're more or less agreed on ceiling. I think 5th is like a top 10% outcome, with the bulk of the time finishing 10-7. Xavi is most likely, but I'd take off Obobert as a most likely candidate and add Sarr to the list. He was really great under Ange early, scoring goals along with everything else.

If he can't get a full NBA contract, I'd strongly consider signing a 2 way with the Grizzlies if I were O-Max. They have proven to move guys up from the G-League regularly; they actually have forward minutes for him early in the year and if he hits for them, they have several guys who are cuttable.
it's specifically that Cuti just re-signed for a raise, & presumably a new 22 year old whose never played in the PL is making more than him now. Its a small issue, not a reason to dislike the transfer. Just noting a potential issue. We don't have any other guys who could credibly demand 200k/week.
Basically, the only way this fails is if he comes in and can’t deal with the physicality of the Premier league. Even then, he can just stay high up the pitch, shoot and pass. If Bruno can do it, so can he!
Once including wages, we’re probably paying about the same for Simons that we were for MGW, maybe less than Eze. Simons is younger, has a skillset not currently on the roster, and will be sale-able for a profit if he hits.
The only thing I’m concerned about are if Spurs gave him the wages he’s demanding, and what that might do to a player like Romero, who just re-upped. We don’t have many more players who can demand a significant wage increase, so it’s probably fine.

That is most certainly an option, though Paratici’s whole thing is getting deals over the line. They might not be the *best* deals, but they will be deals.
Because my prior is "Everyone knows Spurs have $65mm to spend on a top target", I interpret this as a list of players who are definitely worth $65mm, some discount options like Paqueta and maybe Lookman that are really a veiled threat to Monaco trying to charge $65mm for Akliouche.

I'll be honest. The first time I saw VDV sprinting up to press the ball backwards with Spence behind, I thought we were going to get caught out. It happened a bit, but mostly not immediately after a pressing mistake led to a quick transition.
