Speaking as a movie nerd, film critics are also better now than at any point in my lifetime (and most likely history). They're more open to innovation, new styles, and different genres. The profession has evolved into something great, so of course businesses are trying to kill it.

They're super-fun, but they're basically a grift. Mattel could design them so that they come to pieces for storage, but instead they assemble and take up a huge amount of room and can't be packed away.
