Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. I'm glad to be here. Debilitating chronic pain and other symptoms made me not want to be shortly before my vasculitis diagnosis and for a year after. It can get better. I hope for all chronically ill people to suffer a little less.

So I'm not a lifelong Dem. And I'm pretty proud of that - I struggled through a whole fuckton of bullshit to refine my politics to the point where I feel they are in line with my moral values. And it's strange to me to be proud of having a lifelong political affiliation.
My friend saw someone initially denied a vaccine in NYC yesterday at Duane reade despite the the person being visibly elderly and disabled. The person eventually got one but the Pharmacist did not acknowledge they had a right to one.
Availability of vaccines is one thing, getting them covered by insurance is another. Frustratingly, people are being denied coverage even in states like MA which now requires insurers to cover COVID vaccines.

New Jersey has become the latest state to take action to protect COVID vaccine access. Governor Phil Murphy has issued an Executive Directive allowing anyone 6 months and up to receive a COVID vaccine, and a Standing Order authorizing pharmacists to give vaccines without a prescription.

We need everyone to be a public health messenger so really appreciate your voice! I do a similar thing with climate change, atmospheric physics is not my specific scientific expertise, but climate change has huge health impacts, and we are all experiencing its impacts so we must all speak up.

A little more on this. In some states requiring COVID vaccine prescriptions, there are CVS MinuteClinics that offer a workaround: AZ, DC, FL, GA, NC, VA Unfortunately CV does not have MinuteClinics in LA, ME, OR, UT, or WV

My graduate training in public health was from BU's "health law, human rights, and bioethics" program when it was directed by George Annas. And, in my view, not only is it permissible to say you have a qualifying condition, but it is an affirmatively good deed to do so.
