I started off thinking it was The Bangles... then I had to go back and reread the first two panels.

Princess Pīata has decided that she will be safe from the storm under the pile of bedding folded up in her chair from when family stayed a couple of nights back. She keeps looking up at me as if to ask if she should be alarmed by the flashing light and loud crashes.

Well I just put a dent in my Christmas Shopping (and my wallet)! It’s on until 9 this evening, then 9-5 tomorrow. Also: we’re very light on market bookings this season, so it might be November before the next time you can browse our work in person.
The Sewphist (@thesewphist.bsky.social)
At a loose end in the Hutt this evening? I’m heading along to this. It’s not like a normal market, I won’t be behind a stall, just wandering and admiring the pretties and acquiring fudge. If you go, and spot me (not hard, I’ll be the one wearing a mask) please feel free to say kia ora!

I have done that before. I have also done that then wrapped them in tin foil and put them in the woodburner. That was really good. And somewhere I have a recipe for samosa stuffed potatoes, and I will find it for you if you would like.

If the aim is to get your work in front of people as a marketing exercise, and you don’t necessarily expect sales (but it might spark commissions), and if the cost isn’t too high, then it might be worth it.
The Sewphist (@thesewphist.bsky.social) reply parent
Remember when they used to say consignment stores were a risk because “no skin in the game”? It wasn’t true for consignment stores (you don’t make sales, you don’t get commission, you can’t cover overheads) but I’m a bit leery of renting space, because they make money off the vendor before sales.

Worcester Bar is definitely somewhere my sister went. I'm not sure it was still around by the time I was old enough to hit the town. At 18 I could go places that had dining (we did sometimes buy some hot chips at Ministry) but I was very young looking so had to wait until I was 20 everywhere else.

Is it possible you’ve put it on backwards? And once you’ve got it installed, and your fabric in place, have you manually pushed the front of the foot as far back as it will go? There will also be some associated stitches that need to be selected, depending on what type of button hole you want.

Seriously, if you haven’t checked out Appetise.io yet, you really ought to! It’s not a meal box, you still have to do your own food shop, but it suggests recipes and creates a shopping list for your choice of supermarket (NW or Woolies) which you can either take in store or use to order online.
