A surprisingly polarising view!
It would be wrong to say 'anti-clown people are most likely to be Lib Dems', agreed, but then the post didn't say that :)
Hence the use of "the" in the post, i.e. the proportion of Lib Dem voters who dislike clowns is higher than the proportions for voters of other parties.
