I appreciate the Founders didn't have many examples to build on, but there's a certain sense of foreboding in that they styled themselves on a project that eventually failed.

In a parliamentary party you generally don't criticize the party leader and this is how the GOP under Trump works.
People tend to think the Democrats function like a parliamentary party. To be fair, the GOP does kind of function like one under Trump. Like he mostly gets to select candidates and the rest of the party tries to ape his style.

Like I think giving Indian nations like the Navajo or the Choctaw representation equivalent to states would be fair and would work, but there are a lot of small Native American tribes out there, and it would be wrong to not have them represented the same way as the Navajo would be.

I agree, it would need to adapted to federalism. Also, in South Africa's system, the president functions like a pm in other parliamentary systems and can be removed via a legislative vote of no confidence, he's just also the head of state.
