Spent Saturday watching the extended version of The Two Towers and yesterday tabling at zine fest with my dear pals, so today I am definitely thinking about community and friendship and stuff

As an artist there is always the feeling that I should *design* everything I make, and actually? If someone else has the skills and time I am more than happy to follow their instructions!
Spent some time today making a display for my table at SF Zine Fest using the super smart Thuban Press pattern and instructions, plus a big cardboard box from the basement.
If you are okay with this, if you think this is justified, if you think people living on the street have brought this upon themselves, if you think this is good leadership, you may be able to fool yourself that you care about others but you don’t fool me
FYI, per SCAN wastewater San Francisco is in a large and rising Covid surge (highest in California), and now LA County and Riverside are entering the chat. IMO it takes a lot to move the indicators like this for LA, so be *extra* careful now friends and fam.

Because it is a knit, you don’t need to! Knit fabric will not unravel. It might curl a tiny bit, but that is rare with these old leggings.

Also if there is something you’d like to know more about, zines are a fantastic resource! It’s how I learned about a lot of stuff when I was a teenager that I’d honestly never thought about before. And you can sit with the new info and simmer and NOT pepper someone with questions or comments!
Every time I see it I am secondhand embarrassed! To the point that I keep checking my own settings (always private, as far as I know) to make sure.
Pertinent to that last repost, being able to just roll with what people tell you about their lived experience is a skill, and you can get better at it with practice! You don’t *have* to be immediately judgmental or dismissive of what anyone is saying, just say “ok!” and LISTEN.
The only thing to understand about the pronoun thing is that just because something is outside of your lived experience doesn’t mean it’s not real or the person telling you is mistaken or you are being inconvenienced
I still do design but now it’s for a small, independent business. So at the very least I’m not subject to the whims of layers and layers of higher-ups as I was while working in ed tech.
I’m glad old job had layoffs 6 years ago and now I never have to defend my corporate graphic design/art direction job against AI because that would have been [fx: Jean Ralphio] soulllllll crushingggggg

Picking up the plum tree’s dropped fruit is a project in itself: lots of mostly-nibbled ones, some mildly ooozing, a couple of raccoon poops, then power-washing plum sludge off the flagstone.

Lately I’ve been watching a bunch of documentaries I would call Sad Hollywood Stories and let me tell you, it’s really awakening my inner F U Hollywood feelings. Do I like to be entertained? Sure. Do I love movies? YES, and: I bet you could make them without treating people like crap!

This week my neighbor/friend found their cat who had been missing and actively searched for FOR FIVE WEEKS. She was spotted in someone’s yard several blocks away and was hungry enough to approach a trap set out for her. And she is a bit skinny but ok! A little good news!

Picked up my zine I’ve been working on for way too long and surprise! I did the pagination wrong so it’s complete and total nonsense. I am so upset with myself.
