I live in a city, thousands of miles from either one of those bigots, and their special little children that lived up to the standards (by staying at home until they’re 23, leeching off of the parents for everything they’re worth lmao) while I thrive in Seattle, with my full time job,
narcissists so self-absorbed, they couldn’t care less who bullied their kid, or beat their kid, or raped their kid, because they cared only about theirselves, and about their other children. but you wanna know what I think about all of it? I simply just cannot care anymore.
but what I’m doing for myself, now that I’m an adult? that is what shapes me to be the level headed, sane human being that I am actively choosing to be today. My parents are christofascist nut jobs, both so self-absorbed that they couldn’t care for the one kid they had that actually needed it.
and now? I can’t forgive my mom for doing that, or the abuse, or the years of guilt, put squarely onto my shoulders, into my care, to tolerate for the rest of my life. But what I can do, is just let go of it all. What she did shaped me to be a violent, cruel human being.
and all the pain and hardships I’ve had to go through, throughout my entire life, are astronomically more painful than anything my mom, or my dad, or anyone inside of my family has ever had to go through, all because my mother was too lazy to care for her mom. She put that on the kid she abused.
caring for my grandmother for years, holding the weight and guilt of a child, not a grandchild, watching my grandmother die? out of my reach, without the person she said was “the only person I can trust anymore”, which, if you haven’t pieced it together, was me, that wasn’t my job.
years of trauma, abuse, both physical and mental, all soothed by a woman I had to sit and bare witness to her slowly losing her mind, and her care was left solely with me, for a long time. My roommate said something that nobody else has said… that wasn’t my responsibility.
seeing her in her casket broke me further, and fully slammed the idea that I was truly alone into my head harder than the bullet I sent through my brain a few years back, it really, truly shattered what I thought was right and wrong, and… again, just simply broke me.
I can’t even remember what went through my head that day, I just know that I closed my door, I sat at my computer, and for the first time in a long time, I mourned. I won’t feel the same pain with my parents, or siblings, or really anyone else, everyone worth grieving had been grieved for.
