I see this also with the food demonstrations that people do for freezer meal prep. They also have the cans opened and everything pre-chopped, so of course the time flies while they are doing their demo. Need to know how long it took to chop those onions, and peppers, chiles, and carrots, etc!

This is my current progress on a small kit from Michael’s. The oranges and yellows seemed so cheerful. I’m not usually drawn to the color orange except in nature. The backstitching over the colored sections reminds me of watercolor paintings. Yellows are hard to stitch at night, but it’s fun.

One aspect of cross stitch that gives it a nice appearance is for all of the top stitch to lean in the same direction. Stick with it because it’s a relaxing hobby that can be done while conversing or watching TV or listening to/reading a book.

Here’s to the person that inspired you to make this change - it gets easier to say. Was weird for me with my best friend after decades of not saying it, but it’s natural now and so nourishing for both of us to know that truth and hear it.
Go set an alarm for 25 minutes. You can put the phone down and stitch and come back to tell me how you did - or snap a photo before and after if it’s quicker, just don’t post until time is up. You’ve got this!
Maybe make a small grid in the area, then just focus one square at a time.
I have multiples in progress, but it is usually because I missed a deadline for a knit along or competition, so I just carry on with a sock that matches my socialization level. Some are easier and I can chat, but some are complex designs or new techniques and I need to be solo to focus.

Not at all. We are done with dinner around here by about 5 pm, and then go for our evening stroll. Eating dinner earlier is helpful for anyone who has reflux disease because it’s good to be upright for a bit to aid digestion.

I wish I could read long, fat books…my mind wanders, so I max out at about 450 pages or so. Those few that are 600 or more, I really struggle. But all the rest, indeed, I can get behind those strategies for living fully.
