Afaik, this narrative (of malevolent elites) was coming in Europe from both ends of the political spectrum. In the US, however, it was particularly the extreme right who propagated it. Think “Behold a Pale Horse” by Milton William Cooper.
What about the scientific explanation for phenomena like psionics? You know, the holographic universe, the quantum brain, and non-locality? Seems as plausible to me as intelligent, non-biological matter.
