ICE killed a father of three in Franklin Park a few days ago. They are snatching people at gas stations, at bus stops, and from their homes and cars, leaving screaming, panicked children in their wake. It is a nightmare, and when ICE has amassed 10,000 new agents, it could be the new normal.

It's a good question. The status quo is that universities don't engage in such violations because they are costly. Two options: 1. Courts change first amendment doctrine for faculty firings 2. Governments just assume the cost of legal violations, as they do for police misbehavior

This may explain why there’s an aggressive response to people who merely post Kirk’s own words. It threatens the existence of the alternate Kirk - the motivational speaker that had been marketed to young kids and white Christian groups through selective quotation & clips.

When you publish a website that posts the names and photos of scholars who have written or said things you disagree with and encourage people to surveil and harass them, you are not, in fact, a “free speech” organization.

condemnations of political violence are well taken but it does feel as if some prominent political commentators are of the view that violence isn’t a part of the history of American politics and that is very much not true.
