If Mikal and the club had waited a week to put pen to paper, New York would NOT have been able to move Bridges during the 2025-26 season. Now, a deal prior to the deadline remains a (albeit unlikely) possibility (should Giannis get antsy or things go completely sideways inside MSG, etc).
The timing of the Bridges' signing is significant. Players who ink an extension are ineligible to be traded for six months. This means that Bridges can be traded as of February 1st, 2026 (prior to next season’s deadline).
