Stayed in Bundaberg (Taribelang Bunda country) after a drive through endless cane fields. Checked out the Bundaberg rum plant (sugar mill is pictured). Tour was mostly "hur hur hur, drink Bundy", a shame given rum science is really interesting! Amazingly the plant only employs 30-40 odd people.

Regret was instant however, as we were jammed in like sardines in a massive campground filled with giant caravans. Soulness, industrial camping. I don't get the logic of camping in these beasts. Each costs $100k+, plus a fee per night of $80-100. Airbnb would be cheaper and more comfortable.

Even in Israel, there's wide opposition to the Gaza city occupation plan. There's mass demonstrations on Israel's streets to end the war, and the IDF high command have repeatedly warned against the plan. There's huge resentment among reservists who are being called up.

Sanctions are a blunt tool. They're often counter productive. They often end up reinforcing the regime they are supposed to weaken. But at this point, there are still actors in Israel outside the government who could leverage the sanctions to stop this massacre.

The only reason a target won't be legislated is if its a weak target. Plain and simple. This parliament has the most progressive climate focused cross bench in Australia's history - any target that is a 70+ reduction and aligned with the science would get passed. A weak target = a weak leader.

As the IDF begins its second full invasion of Gaza City, remember how much of the city's outer regions have already been razed (bulldozers/demo charges) in the meantime. If you look at Gaza City, Jabaliya, Beit Hanoun, and Beit Lahiya as one 25-sq-mile metroplex, about half (black) is already gone.
