I haven't really seen this happening in accounting, which is a shame. I was looking forward to collecting an astronomical salary and then plunging the world into barbarism when I retire. Guess you programmers will get to do that.

Especially when you've got version control software for the Audit file that thinks the workbook is still open. What you have to do then is kill it in the task manager, auto recover the real workbook, save it somewhere, restart your computer, and then replace the buggy workbook with the local one.
One of the things that happens when you're an accountant is you learn to save Excel workbooks like you're playing a buggy game. Big, big fan of how a single frozen workbook ruins everything.
