Those who've never fired a rifle may think 150-200 yards is a "long way" for a 30-06 No, that is considered close/medium range for a deer rifle out here in the west: The bullet is going to drop < 4 inches, so little you don't even compensate for it. A 1 MOA accuracy would only be a 2" spread...

Almost trivial for anyone who's gone to the range. 150-200 yards with a .30-06 is standard/close deer hunting range out here in the West. Bullet drop is ~3-4 inches so you don't even bother to compensate really, and unless the wind is really blowing it won't affect the trajectory.
An "older, imported, 30-06" deer rifle is going to be really hard to track down: Utah doesn't track guns period: so any private party sales are never recorded. This limits the tracking to the initial purchase only at the federal level... www.usatoday.com/story/news/2...
