For all of its good traits, I can't imagine buying a low trim ID4 over an Equinox EV without strong incentives. 206mi vs 319mi EPA range in a car that costs more with worse infotainment? It's probably better to drive spiritedly but is that worth the other drawbacks?
It might be a part of the problem how the cheapest ID4s lack the updated infotainment & updated motor, they're kinda shooting themselves in the foot with that. The base model's small battery & 206mi EPA range also isn't great, I'd avoid that one.
The car itself is decent now with the newer infotainment and hugely improved rear motor, but they *really* fumbled the launch. VW did say they will significantly alter the ID4 soon, that might save it alongside a new name. www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new...

The car ('22 IONIQ 5) unlocks as I walk up to it and I touch a little capacitive button on the handle to lock it when walking away. The fob stays in my pocket and authenticates via proximity.
I don't need to take my fob out of my pocket, the car unlocks as I walk up to it and is ready to start via a button press when inside.
But is that hatred of keyless ignition for subjective reasons? A preference is fine but it's immensely more convenient. I'm happy that automakers are moving away from the manual-adjacent PRNDL arrangement for auto shifters but some are awful. I *really* like the column mounted one in my IONIQ 5.
I love how I can walk up to my car with my keyfob in my pocket and it unlocks via proximity, then once I get in and press the start button it's on. The only times I grab my fob are to remote start the car, use it as a remote to move the car back/forward, or open the hatch. Way better than key-only.
It's fascinating to read the replies to this complaining about keyless ignition from people who I assume have zero experience with keyless ignition. Daily a car with it and you'll quickly realize it's better in nearly every way.
... You keep it in your pocket or purse, that's the biggest benefit of a keyless ignition.
Not needing to take a key out of my pocket to unlock/lock or start my car is a massive convenience.

The late-2000s/early-2010s Accents in that price range are reliable cars with older proven drivetrains, they're just really cheaply made. You don't have many options at $2000.

Even if we don't have chargers capable of that 900kW everywhere any car with that sort of C-rate will almost certainly have no problem maxing out current 350kW DCFC *deep* into the pack. Like 350kW at 70% where a Tesla would be under 100kW.

Also worth repeating that BEVs are not the only form of electric vehicle, PHEVs & EREVs are EVs too.
Calling EREVs "hybrids" is misleading pass it along 🤓☝️ "erm technically they're serial-hybrids" They are EVs with onboard generators for when you surpass the large battery range. "Hybrid" infers an electrically-assisted ICE while EREVs are the opposite.

I think charging $120 for 256GB is outrageous when that type of money can buy a fast 2TB NVME drive. Phone manufacturers upcharge for storage like solid-state prices are still stuck in 2010-2015 and they do it to maximize margins.

I'm certain that more global models will use this strategy in the future as bans on CN car software take hold in the US & car buyers in China continue to have higher expectations for their car software. My '22 Hyundai runs a 2013 version of Android, acceptable for Americans maybe but not CN buyers.
Something becoming more common is that cars sold in China will use different software stacks entirely vs the same model sold in other markets. The Polestar 4 is an example, it uses Android Automotive in western markets but a Polestar-Meizu OS in China.
