Liverpool weren't at the races yesterday, I think the run of games was just too much in the end. 4 games squeezed into 12 days, one is away in Europe, one is 120 minutes against probably the most physically demanding team in Europe. I suspect what is holding Branthwaite back is not having experience playing in a modern system where the CB has a lot of responsibility for ball playing, on the ball decision-making and ball playing. Hopefully he will get that opportunity somewhere.
Branthwaite is a very good player, and objectively better than Burn. Would be in there for my money. Quansah is also an exceptional talent and with the England pedigree to back it up

My OH has a nearly complete news blackout. I've tried to block out all US news since the beginning of the year. Dilemma is that as a collective it is important to know what's going on, but individually impotent rage/despair is no good for us.
You can argue there are 2 key activities to football clubs - chasing sporting glory or acting as community vehicles. I think clever regulation would allow clubs to nominate which. I think they aren't mutually exclusive but it is fair to say that Manchester United are failing at both of them.
