That's what happened. They were the new golden goose. Hated that transition, pretty much stopped working in tv (for other reasons too) except the occasional documentary.
Golden era. Certain amount of nostalgia involved of course but still.
I used to work in movies and tv. I'm early 50s. My first experience of reality tv was horrifying, never went near it again. With dwindling budgets, it soon all became about 'formats' that you could sell abroad for high ROI. The collapse of well-made, informative programming is a terrible shame.
Yeah I've heard some degree of criticism but I think they're on the right track. Let me know anything interesting you hear about in this space, something has to turn the tide. I think settlements with the AI companies at this point gives them a blank slate for almost nothing, not a solution.
