the way the modern press works - political party starts saying something in unison - press reports that theyre all saying it - opposition party gets asked about it - you all start getting invited onto shows to talk about about it republicans understand this, democrats just dont

So the US military is now at war with a vaguely defined enemy (drug cartels) across a vast area (the Caribbean) with no specific goal (“winning” and “defeating them”) and accusing a regional government (Venezuela) of sponsoring that vague enemy without showing proof? Sounds pretty forever warish.

Narcissist ≠ NPD But Trump meets every single diagnostic criteria for the full blown disorder. And it’s reconfirmed on a daily basis. His rigidity and inflexibility are clear signs that this is not just a personality trait, but a disorder.

I 100% agree that the fronto-temporal stuff is pure conjecture. I’m talking about the core disorders that frankly have been in place since he was a teenager - antisocial, narcissistic, and paranoid personality disorders (with a side of sadism). Collectively termed “malignant narcissism” by Fromm.
Chris Braunsdorf (@vslacks.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes it is still an APA rule. No it is not relevant w/ this politician because the majority of mental health professionals today believe that the evidence on Trump is so overwhelming as to make the Goldwater rule irrelevant. It’s the APA that’s lagging behind its members.
Chris Braunsdorf (@vslacks.bsky.social) reply parent
Just because some psychiatrists in the 60s got ahead of themselves doesn’t mean mental health professionals today have no business diagnosing a man whose thoughts and behavior are on 24/7 display and have been for 10+ years. How are psych diagnoses made? By observing behavior and thinking patterns.
Chris Braunsdorf (@vslacks.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes it is. No it’s not.
Chris Braunsdorf (@vslacks.bsky.social) reply parent
That’s completely wrong re his toxic stew of mental disorders. Every time he’s on tv, he displays textbook signs of these illnesses. His physical maladies could point to several things so any “diagnosis” is merely an educated guess. But mental health pros have zero doubts about his disorders.
