The Pentax 17 and Rolleicord were perfect. I had my LCA 120 with me but forgot the batteries and was a struggle to find LR44s

Wonderful - scope for a small book or zine ?
I’m very good at making notes, prints go onto boxes often with typed notes. Some get shared in blog posts others not, some get hung on walls. I can get a bit overwhelmed I guess so more focus is needed. That’s ok as I have 5 or 6 main themed projects on the go so that’s enough.
Been making contact sheets from over 20 rolls of film. I make prints mostly and many will be destined for scanning and blog posts; the prints and notes will go into archival boxes. It’s making me think about rationalising my time exposing film to subject matter that means most to me. Just pondering

There is a clear strain on the camera door with most tripod heads so happy to be safe rather than sorry

Yes they are essential really
Pleased to note that the tripod plate thingy I purchased for my Rolleiflex also fits the Cord - don’t often use these on tripods but often a monopod. They reduce strain on the camera door and often come with Rolleiflex pistol grips.
Attended our local church for friend’ wedding vow renewal and blessing - was taking a few portraits with my Rolleicord and ended up chatting about film and darkroom work with the daughter of Bucks Fizz singer Jay Aston - had no idea who she was ….

Mostly - I take inspiration from the lovely images that one or two folk get on YouTube like Martin Henson Character over blandness is what I look for these days and it it’s light and means I can still walk a bit that’s a bonus

I like having cameras with just one lens. It simplifies the decision making process and forces me to work at this X length if I want to use X camera And when you force yourself to see at a certain length, you suddenly find lots of compositions you might have missed if you had other options available

Agreed - I love going out with say my F2 and the 132 f2.8 pre Ai Q lens I have - that really forces you to photograph things differently. And when you’re physically challenged it helps too!!
And having a fixed lens helps too with finding images - and it’s not heavy
He’s from Chicago so I wonder if he prefers Italian to his home City ???

Seeing Rome through the viewfinder of a TLR was possibly the best way for me to. Even the Pentax 17 got relegated to second place and I forgot batteries for the LCA120 which wasn’t a big deal and it got left in the safe for the trip.
It’s lighter than my Rolleiflex but harder to focus as I haven’t upgraded the screen - will likely do that at some point
Airport film update Stanstead and Gatwick now all CT - happy to hand check and swab Rome had CT scanners with big sign saying no film safe - handed film bag to a chap who took me off to the end of the scanners where I went thru arch and film thru small x ray machine - #believeinfilm All good

You’ll probably find the staff manning the CT scanners know about the need to hand check film so you’ll be ok - just chill when it comes to x ray machines they’ll be fine .

Yes I used one in the darkroom at the nuclear power station I trained at in the 80s - to be honest drying rc prints is no real hassle for folks like me with time on their hands

Anyone interested in the history of colour photography over the last 40 odd years - these two books I love (amongst many others but these happen to be on my desk) - American Surfaces by Stephen Shore and Joel Meyerowitz discussion about colour v monochrome - a real debate in the 60s and 70s

Thirteen sheets of film contact printed for evaluation - ran out of pegs so had to stop for the day. If I never went out with a camera again I’d have enough material to work on to the end of my days. #believeinfilm
The LCA 120 is perfect for using inside a gallery and not drawing attention to yourself due to its wideness…. A faster film would have given less vignette as the camera was wide open I guess - the other sheet is from my Brownie Hawkeye Flash #believeinfilm

Ethereal is the word that springs to mind - always love looking at images that provoke a reaction…
If I started it then it would have to have potential to run for a while so the premise would have to be wide enough to generate enough material over time

Image quality of the Horizon is much superior and even across the frame due to the rotating lens and curved film plane - also no sprockets - it’s an aesthetic thing I guess - definitely a case to own both ……

Tip of the day - switch off the news, remove click bait news apps from your phone, pick up a photo book , go out with a camera or make some prints (however you want to) in short your life will be happier and less stressful. #photography #believeinfilm
